This 1994 Mercedes-Benz SL600 was originally sold by Mervis Motors of Pittsburgh in October 1993 for $120,575 ($233k today). It is finished in Black (040) over Black (271) leather with a Black (740) soft top and matching hardtop. Power is provided by a 6.0-liter V12 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and was equipped with the optional California Emissions Control Equipment (494) from the factory. Equipment includes a removable color-matched hardtop, power windows with ExpressDown, a black convertible soft top, 16″ aftermarket alloy wheels, fog lights, automatic climate control, cruise control, remote entry, Bose Acoustimass sound system, and an Alpine stereo head unit. The car has remained in Ohio its entire life and was acquired by the selling dealer in 2021. It has since undergone significant refurbishment including new tires, refinished wheels, new brakes all around, an oil and filter change, transmission flush, spark plugs and coils, shifter bushings, and a new main wiring harness. The transmission pan, transmission pan gasket, and oil drain plug seal were also replaced in 2022. This R129 shows 42,600 miles and is now offered by the selling dealer in Ohio with the original window sticker, two key fobs, wind deflector, an OEM Mercedes-Benz supplemental owner’s manual on VHS Cassette, manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment receipts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Ohio title.
The car is finished in Black (040) with contrasting Gray lower cladding, and features a matching removable hardtop as well as a black soft top. Additional features include fog lights, headlight wipers, and fender air vents. A paint correction was reportedly performed in preparation for the sale and a metering of the paint performed by the selling dealer showed no signs of paintwork throughout the car. Imperfections include scrapes beneath the front bumper and a scratch on the left rear bumper. Closeups of the panels are viewable in the gallery. The convertible top mechanism functions as intended and the soft top rear window is free from yellowing or cracks. Minor wear to the canvas is viewable in the gallery. The hardtop glass and headliner are in excellent shape and photographs thereof are viewable below. Silver Star branded Mercedes carpet mats are installed and accompany the sale.
The original silver 16″ eight-hole alloy wheels have been replaced with aftermarket 5-spoke 16” units. The wheels were originally chrome but have since been refinished in matching Gray with chrome center caps. They are wrapped in 225/55 Kumho Ecsta tires wearing 2020 date codes. In addition to refinishing the wheels and replacing the tires, the selling dealer replaced all four brake rotors, pads and sensors in preparation for the sale. The self-leveling-suspension with adaptive damping reportedly performs without issue.
The cabin features heated power-adjustable seats upholstered in Black leather with burl wood accents on the doors, shifter and center stack. Amenities include a deployable roll bar, automatic climate control, cruise control, an aftermarket Alpine stereo, trunk mounted CD changer, a heated rear hardtop window, and a Bose Acoustimass sound system. The interior was refreshed by the selling dealer with new center console & convertible top buttons, mirror trim and a new seat bottom cover for the driver’s seat. Bolster wear is visible on the driver’s bolster and a crack in the plastic cluster housing is present on the left side. Close-ups of both are viewable in the gallery.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 42,557 miles; 50 of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The 6.0-liter M120 V12 was factory rated at 389 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Service in preparation for the sale includes replacement of the wiring harness, new fuel injector connectors, new plugs, plug wires, drive belt, intake manifold gasket, shifter linkage bushings, cabin and air intake filters as well as a transmission flush and brake service. The transmission pan, transmission pan gasket, and oil drain plug seal were also replaced in July 2022 and the car is reportedly free of any leaks or drips. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Additional photographs of the underside are shown in the gallery below.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists registration and service history exclusive to Ohio. This SL600 is now offered by the selling dealer in Ohio original window sticker, two key fobs, an OEM Mercedes-Benz supplemental owner’s manual on VHS Cassette, wind deflector, manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment receipts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Ohio title.
